The God Who Made All Things and Rules All Things
Welcome back to your daily work - the part of the study where real growth happens. Your group meeting planted the seed. This week, you water it. Each day takes about 15-20 minutes: a truth to focus on, Scripture to read, a moment to wonder at, and a prayer to pray. Don't skip days. The reward belongs to those who do the work.
Each day this Treasury directs you to read a passage of Scripture. You'll notice we don't print the full passages here - and that's completely intentional. Every time you pick up your Bible to find the passage, you're building the most important habit of the Christian life: going to God's Word directly. You're also seeing the passage in its full context, the way God intended it to be read.

Every day when you see "Read:" followed by a reference - open your Bible or YouVersion, find the passage, and read it slowly before continuing. That moment of reaching for Scripture is not a hurdle. It's the point.

Revelation 4:11Days 1-2: Work on the Primary verse, Genesis 1:1. Read it out loud five times each morning. Say it from memory at midday. Pray it back to God in the evening.
Days 3-4: Add the Supporting verse, Colossians 1:16, building it phrase by phrase. Recite both together.
Days 5-6: Going for the Bonus? Add Revelation 4:11 and practice all three.
Day 7: Recite everything you've memorized - then celebrate. You just hid God's Word in your heart, where no one can ever take it from you.
Today's truth: There were no materials, no light, no space - just God. He spoke, and the universe leaped into being.
Read the whole creation account slowly - the six days of creation, and then the seventh day, when God rests. Notice the rhythm of those first six days: "And God said... and it was so... and God saw that it was good." Underline every time God speaks. He doesn't struggle or strain. He simply says the word, and what never existed comes to be. Then notice the refrain "it was good" - creation wasn't just powerful, it was lovingly, deliberately good.
Inside almost every one of your cells is a coiled strand of DNA - a written code, a language with letters and instructions for building a human being. A single set of that code runs to about three billion letters, and the DNA coiled inside one of your cells, stretched out, would reach about six feet, folded into a space too small to see. You carry that code in something like thirty-seven trillion cells. A book doesn't write itself, and a language doesn't spell itself out by chance. A written code like that points to a Mind behind it. You are not an accident - you are an authored work.
"God, You made everything out of nothing - You just spoke, and there it was. The same voice that said 'Let there be light' is the voice that made me. That's how powerful You are. Help me walk through today amazed at how great You are - and amazed that a God like You would make a whole world for me to live in. Thank You. Amen."
Today's truth: Nothing in creation is random. The world isn't a riddle with no answer - it's a signature.
Read it twice. The skies have no mouth, yet they never stop talking: "Day to day pours out speech." Underline verses 1-4. Here's a beautiful secret - remember the hint from last week, about what the stars have been doing for you? This is it. Every night of your life, the stars have been silently preaching to you about your Maker. "There is no speech... whose voice is not heard." Creation has been telling you about God since before you could talk.
The next time you're outside at night, stop and look up on purpose. Those stars are not random sparks. They are a message that has been traveling toward your eyes for thousands of years, sent by a God who wanted you to look up and know He's there. The sky is the oldest sermon in the world, and it has been preaching just for you.
"God, You didn't just throw the world together - You designed it on purpose, down to the smallest detail. Open my eyes today to see Your fingerprints everywhere I look. And when my life feels random or pointless, remind me of this: the same God who designed the stars is designing my story too. I can trust that. Amen."
Today's truth: You are not a mistake or an extra. You are a signed, handmade, original work of God.
Read it slowly, and read it as if it's about you - because it is. God "knitted" you together. You are "fearfully and wonderfully made." Before you lived a single day, every one of them was already written in His book. Underline verse 16. Then sit with verse 17: His thoughts about you are more than the grains of sand. He wasn't reluctant about making you. He delighted to.
You were not mass-produced. Of the more than eight billion people alive, and the countless billions who have ever lived, there has never been another you - never an identical face, fingerprint, voice, or set of thoughts, and there never will be again. That isn't an accident of chance. It's the mark of an Artist who doesn't make copies. God made exactly one of you, on purpose, and signed it.
"God, You knit me together in my mother's womb - You made me with Your own hands, on purpose. So when I feel like an accident, or like I don't matter, remind me of what's actually true: I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and You wrote every one of my days before I had lived even one. I'm not a mistake. I'm Yours. Help me believe that today - especially about _________________. Amen."
Today's truth: God didn't wind up the world and walk away. He is holding it together this very second - and ruling it.
Read it twice - it's one of the grandest descriptions of Jesus in the Bible. Everything was created through Him and for Him, and "in him all things hold together" (verse 17). Underline "hold together." Right now, the One who keeps every atom and every galaxy from flying apart is the same One who went to the cross for you. The Sustainer of the universe is your Savior.
The sun is so enormous that, by some estimates, about 1.3 million Earths could fit inside it - and it burns about four million tons of itself into light every second. Yet it's just one ordinary star among hundreds of billions in our galaxy, among hundreds of billions of galaxies. The God who holds every one of them in place, and keeps the whole universe from coming undone, is holding you together too - this very second.
A violent storm was sinking the disciples' boat, and Jesus was asleep. When they woke Him, He simply spoke - "Peace! Be still!" - and the wind and waves instantly obeyed. Why? Because the sea recognized the voice that made it. The God who holds the universe together was in the boat the whole time. He is in yours too.
"God, You're not far away, and You didn't make the world and walk off. You're holding everything together right now - including me, including _________________, the part that feels like it's falling apart. You haven't missed a single beat. Help me rest today, knowing the same hand that holds the galaxies in place is underneath my life. Amen."
Today's truth: God doesn't call the bad things good - but He is so wise and good that He can weave even them toward good.
Joseph's brothers had sold him into slavery; years of pain followed. Yet Joseph looks them in the eye and says, "You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good" (Genesis 50:20). Both were true at once: they truly meant evil, and God truly meant good - working through the very same events. Then read Romans 8:28 and let it settle: not that all things are good, but that God works all things together for good for those who love Him.
From underneath, a tapestry is a mess of knots and loose threads that make no sense. From the front, it's a masterpiece. Right now you mostly see the back of your life - tangles, dark threads, knots you can't explain. But God sees the front. Every thread is going somewhere. One day He'll turn it over, and you'll see the picture He was weaving all along - and you'll find that not one thread was wasted.
"God, I don't understand everything that's happened to me. Some of it has really hurt. I'm not going to pretend the hard things are good - but I do believe You are good, and that You can take even _________________ and weave it into something I can't see yet. Help me trust You with the part of the picture I can't make sense of. You see the front of the tapestry; I'll trust You with the back. Amen."
Today's truth: The God who answered Job from the whirlwind is the same God who answered the disciples from inside the boat - and in Jesus, He climbed in with us.
All week you've looked at God making and ruling all things. Today, listen to two voices and discover they are the same voice. First read Job 38:1-11 - God answering the suffering man Job out of a whirlwind, telling the raging sea, "Thus far shall you come, and no farther." Then read Mark 4:35-41 - where that very sea storms against a little boat, and Jesus stands and says, "Peace! Be still!" The voice that fenced the sea in Job is the voice that calmed it in Christ. Now take in two treasures.
In Job, God spoke from a whirlwind, and Job met Him from a distance: "now my eye sees you." Glorious - but still far off, creature to Creator. Then look at Mark 4: the same God who set the sea's limits is now asleep in the boat, soaked by the same waves as His friends. In Jesus, the God of the whirlwind climbed inside His own creation to be with us in the storm. He doesn't only speak over your storm anymore - He gets in the boat. Whatever storm you're in, He has not left it.
Soaked and trembling, the disciples ask the most important question in the boat: "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" The wind and the sea obey Him for one reason - He made them, and He once told them how far they could go. This is the Creator standing inside His own creation, the Sovereign Lord commanding the world He spoke into being. And He had perfect peace in the storm, because He held it in His hands. That same peace is what He offers you.
Just before this storm, Jesus had explained everything to His disciples privately (Mark 4:34) - and they still panicked. If a truth hasn't fully landed in you yet, you're in good company. Understanding is a gift God gives (4:11), and it grows like a seed even when you can't feel it (4:26-29). Be patient with yourself. The seed is growing.
"Lord Jesus, You made the sea, and the sea listens to You. You were in the boat with Your disciples in the storm, and You're in mine too. I'm sorry for the times I've decided You didn't care, or that things had spun out of Your control. You're the Creator and the Sovereign Lord - and You're right here with me. Would You give me Your peace in the middle of my storm? Amen."
Today's goal: Gather up the week, declare the truth out loud, and get ready to share it.
Say every verse you've memorized this week out loud, from memory. (Genesis 1:1 - and Colossians 1:16 and Revelation 4:11 if you took the challenge.)
"The God who made the universe out of nothing made me on purpose.
The God who designed every star and every cell designed my life with intention.
The God who holds the galaxies together is holding my life together.
The God who rules over all things rules over mine.
The God who turned a cross into a rescue can weave even my hardest days into good.
This is not luck. This is not fate. This is not random.
This is the Creator and Sovereign Lord - and He is good."
"If God is already in control of everything,
then what's the point of my choices — or my prayers?"
Practice your answer out loud right now, in your own words, like you're talking to a discouraged friend. Remember the pieces: God's control doesn't cancel your choices - it makes them safe... Joseph's brothers chose, Joseph chose, and God worked through all of it... prayer is one of the very ways He has chosen to get His good work done... you're not throwing dice into the dark; you're walking a road a good God is leading.
And remember the rule: gentleness and respect. The goal is never to win - it's to encourage the person asking.
